Mary Ann Summersett Pettway was born May 20, 1961 to the parentage of Mr. Jessie Willard and Mrs. Mattie Mae Smith Summersett. She was educated in the public school system of Tattnall County Georgia. At an early age she attended Bethel African Methodist Church, but later joined and attended St. Phillip Mission Baptist Church, afterward, she moved her membership to Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend David Moxley.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Nancy Ann Summersett and Denise Singleton, four brothers: Calvin, Samuel (Sam), Arnie, and Jessie "Buck" Summersett, Jr.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband, Michael Douglas Pettway; one devoted daughter, Sharonda McKinnon (James) Golden, of Hinesville, Georgia, two loving granddaughters Brianna and Kamoria Golden and special friend, Raquan Powell. She is also survived by three sisters; Sarah Joe Carter, Joycie Wright, and Janice (Rev. Dr. Artis, Jr.) Carswell of Reidsville, Georgia. Five brothers: Pastor Roy L. (Rosetta) Summersett, of Reidsville, Georgia, Johnny (Cindy) Summersett of Vidalia, Georgia, Bennie Summersett of Milledgeville, Georgia, and Larry M. and Theron Summersett of Plainfield New Jersey, also special nieces Daphine S. Robertson and Michelle Summersett of Reidsville. She is also survived by step daughter, Danielle Jackson of Detroit, Michigan, Brother-in-laws: Michael D. Sanders and Ronald L. Sanders of Louisville, KY, Sister–in-law Denita Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska, and nephew, Daniel Jackson of Detroit, Michigan. She is survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A walk through viewing will be set for Friday from the hours of 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Ogden Mills Cemetery with Rev. David Moxley, Rev. Roy L. Summersett and Rev. Dr. Artis Carswell, Jr. officiating.
