Michael D. Hochberg
It is with shattered hearts that the family of Michael Hochberg share that Michael passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 29, 2025, at his home in Glennville, Georgia.
Born to the late Dr. David Hochberg and Dee (Stitt) Hochberg, Michael grew up with a lifelong love of learning and adventure. He graduated from Woodstock Academy in 1981, earned his Master of Fine Artsfrom Columbia University, and later received his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law.His career included serving as chief legal counsel for the former Sycamore Networks, where he authored the company’s IPO.
Michael was known as a kind and generous spirit, with a wide array of passions and talents. He loved traveling, highlighted by a once-in-a-lifetime journey to Tibet in 2003. A gifted sailor, he found joy aboard his 50-foot Beneteau sailboat, Stagger Lee. Michael took great pleasure in sharing his love for adventure and travel with his nephews, Jacob and James. He instilled in them the belief that the world is full of endless opportunities to explore and discover, and they will forever cherish the memories of the trips and experiences they shared with him.. He taught himself archery and gave his time freely to youth camps, passing along that skill to the next generation.
Physical fitness was both discipline and a refuge for Michael. Many knew him at Big Sky Gym, where he formed deep friendships and inspired others as a mentor.
