Myrtle Smith

Myrtle Eunice Smith, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Hazlehurst Court Center in Hazlehurst after an extended illness.  The native of Ft. Valley was born on January 21, 1941.  She would go on to spend much of her life in the Toombs-Montgomery County area.  Her full-time vocation was tending to her family’s needs day in and day out.  Myrtle is fondly remembered for her cracklin cornbread and buttermilk biscuits.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  Preceding her in death is her parents; her husband, Robert Smith; a son, William Smith; and a daughter, Vickie McDaniels.

Left to cherish the memories of a life well lived are her two sons, Silas Smith, and Robert R. Smith, both of Uvalda; a grandson, James Thompson of Augusta; other friends and relatives also survive.

The family will hold a private inurnment service at Pinecrest Cemetery at a later date.
