Nathan "Nick" Nichols, age 76, of Lyons, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 1, 2026.Born on March 10, 1950, in Toombs County, Nick was the son of the late Hilton and Ethel Nichols. He attended Lyons High School before briefly serving his country in the United States Army. A hardworking man throughout his life, he spent many years employed with Bland Farms, where his dedication and strong work ethic were evident to all who knew him.
Nick found joy in the simple things in life. Whether tending a garden, working the land, casting a line into the water, spending time in the woods hunting, or preparing a meal for family and friends, he was happiest when doing what he loved. His appreciation for the outdoors and his easygoing spirit created many cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Miranda Nichols.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his four sons, Jeffrey (Shraquida) Lewis of Vidalia, Nathan Nichols, Jr. of Vidalia, Hercules Nichols of Augusta, and Rodney Nichols of Vidalia; eighteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ronnie (Barbara) Nichols of Collins, Robbie Nichols of Hinesville, Lonnie Nichols of Vidalia, Bobby Nichols of Vidalia, and Starlin (Debra) Nichols of Lyons; two sisters, Evelyn Sharpe and Beverly (Ray) Wheeler both of Dublin; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends whose lives were made richer by knowing him.
The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial, 135 North Main Street Reidsville GA.
A Homegoing Celebration honoring Nick's life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Williams Missionary Baptist Church, 135 Surrency Street, Reidsville, Georgia, with Pastor Ray Joyce serving as Eulogist and Dr. Cynthia Joyce presiding.
Interment will follow at Ogden Mill Cemetery.
