Oscar Vasquez, age 71, of Collins, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. He was born on December 20, 1954, in Brownsville, Texas, to Miguel and Paula Infante Vasquez. He grew up learning early in life the importance of family and hard work, values instilled in him by his parents. Oscar began helping his family at a young age, and that strong work ethic followed him throughout his life.
While working in Florida as a young man, Oscar met the love of his life, and the two quickly became inseparable. They later married and settled in Miami, where they began raising their family together. Following his retirement, Oscar and his wife relocated to Collins in 2010, where he continued to enjoy time surrounded by those he loved most. Oscar will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his steady work ethic, and his quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
Left to celebrate a life well lived is his beloved wife of over 53 years, Maria Vasquez; one son, Oscar (Ileana) Vasquez of Florida; two daughters, Maria Vasquez and Stella Vasquez, both of Florida; eleven grandchildren, Saul, Alfredo, Angel, Christopher, Maria, Maribel, Oscar, Abel, Anthony, Madison, and Bianca; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, David Vasquez of Florida; two sisters, Maria (Armando) Medina of Reidsville, and Juanita (Juan) Aguilar of Florida; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial with Rev. Jesus Angel officiating. Services will conclude at the chapel.
