Patricia "Pat" Canady

Patricia “Pat” Canady, age 73, passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Doctors Hospital in Augusta with her daughter by her side. She was born in Douglas on August 28, 1952, to Robert and May Bell Sapp Newell and had lived in Collins most of her life.

Pat's greatest joy was being a homemaker and caring for those she loved.  She found great joy in caring for children as a profession and spent many years touching the lives of countless children and families with her love and compassion.

Pat found great joy in her family, especially in watching her granddaughters participate in various events. Her presence at these moments was nearly ever-present, reflecting her deep love and support for their endeavors. These cherished memories speak volumes about the warmth and commitment she brought to her family life.

Pat was a member of Elza Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Donald, Gerald, and Roger Newell.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Hal Canady of Collins; daughter and son in law, Sandra Gail and Harry Spikes of Collins; siblings, Edward (Rhonda) Newell, Janice Knight, and Katherine (Bob) Green all of Douglas; granddaughters, Amber (Wes) Cranford of Reidsville, Hally Spikes (Austin), and Hannah Spikes all of Collins; great grandchildren, Jaylie and Trent Cranford; sister in law, Kay Lynn Horner of AL; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, beginning at 12:30pm with the funeral services to follow at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial.  Interment will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
