Richard L. Ulmer, affectionately known to many as "Ricky" and "Shorty," passed away peacefully at home with his family on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Born on February 4, 1962, in Savannah and spent most of his life residing in Tattnall.
For over twenty years, Ricky contributed his skills and dedication to RLM Contracting, where he was respected and admired by colleagues and clients alike. Outside of his professional life, he had a profound love for fishing and was a devoted animal lover who cherished his dogs dearly. Above all, Richard treasured his family and friends, who were the center of his world.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dewey and Esther Grace Ulmer, and his siblings Johnny Ulmer, Joey Ulmer, Angela Tidwell, James Ulmer, Dewey Ulmer III, Betty Willis, and Peggy Ulmer.
Ricky is survived by the love of his life, Mildred Grooms; his son, Nicholas Anderson; his brothers Wayne Ulmer and Billy Tidwell; as well as several nieces and nephews. Their memories of Ricky will forever reflect his kindness and unwavering commitment to those he cared about.
The family will receive friends at 1:00pm on Monday, May 11, 2026 with the funeral services to follow at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial. Interment will follow in the Glennville Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give special thanks to Jody Tootle, Stephanie Thompson "My Angel", Wayne Ulmer, Tootie Walden, and Rodney Morse.
