Rita Mae Walker

Rita Mae Walker born November 29, 1951 to Willie and Pearl Walker passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, leaving behind a family who knew her as a woman of unstoppable spirit and a heart that never kept score. She was full of spunk and lived carefree, not because life was easy, but because she refused to let worry steal her joy. She laughed easily, told the truth with a twinkle, and made ordinary days feel like a celebration. Rita served others without calculating what they deserved. She offered kindness, sacrifice, and grace even when it cost her. That generosity flowed from her devotion to Jesus Christ. She loved Him, trusted Him, and tried to live the way He taught, giving freely because she had first been given so much. Her deepest earthly joy was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a fierce and everyday devotion, making each of them feel claimed and cherished. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Josephine Ray, Pauline Hebert, Molly Logan, James Blocker, Charlton Blocker, Roy Walker, Opal DeLoach, Freeman Walker, Lois Bryant, Arthur Walker, Retha Holland, Roland Walker, Doland Walker, Noland Walker and Rosa Lee Burkhalter.

She is survived by her two children, Rhonda Todd, Ronald Todd, Jr.; four grandchildren, Daphne Smith, Brandon Smith, Hannah Todd and Dustin Todd; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Mildred Strickland, Myrtle Williams, Mary Moody, Douglas Walker and former spouse, Ronald Todd, Sr.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Glennville, Georgia with Bishop James Holland and Reverend Brad Pickren officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to honor her memory by doing an act of kindness for someone in need.
