Samuel Rix, age 79, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Wellstar Medical College of Georgia. Born on June 23, 1946, to Ed Rix and Jueromie Folwer Rix Cooper, Sam’s life was a testament to the power of ingenuity and a warm personality that brought light and laughter to those around him.
Professionally, Sammy was a skilled welder and painter, his love for tinkering with small engines was well-known among family and friends. With a unique talent for innovation, he could transform a simple lawn mower into a weed eater and always doing things no one else could think of. His inventive nature and quick wit earned him the reputation of being a comedian in all walks of life, making each encounter a loving memory.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Willis Rix; his daughter; parents; stepfather, Jake Cooper; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his son, Stacy Thomas Rix of Dublin; sisters, Terry Rix Abbott Carswell and Penny Cooper Willis (Paul) Spence; two brothers; sisters-in-law, Darlene Rix, Polly Rix, and Mary Anne Rix; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
The memorial service celebrating Samuel’s remarkable life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Snowhill Baptist Church in Alamo, Georgia. The service will be officiated by Ordained Minister John B. Floyd, Sammy’s cousin and longtime close friend. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose inventive spirit and joyful nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Samuel Rix’s life was a mosaic of craftsmanship, humor, familial devotion, and friendship. His legacy persists in the memories shared by those he touched and in the ingenuity he so effortlessly displayed throughout his years. He will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to call him family and friend.
