Hinesville,

Sonje Sue Sjolin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born on January 8, 1938, in Ogden, Utah, and grew up in Rawlins, Wyoming, where she spent her childhood surrounded by her loving family.  At an early age, Sonje met the love of her life, Richard Elmo Freeman, while attending Junior High School. The couple married and had three children, whom they raised with love and devotion.  In 1963, Sonje moved to California, where she resided until 1969. She then moved to Arkansas for six months before settling in Denver, Colorado. Throughout her life, she lived in various locales before finally moving to Hinesville, Georgia, in 1994.

Sonje's favorite hobbies were quilting, crocheting, and knitting, and she was known for her incredible talent in these areas. She enjoyed creating blankets and quilts for anyone who needed them and never hesitated to help those in need. She was also a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hinesville and loved singing the songs her mother sang.  Sonje will be remembered for her kind heart, her beautiful quilts, and her unwavering love for her family and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memoires made are her two daughters, Charlotte Letitia Freeman, and Colleen Marie (Edwin) Perez; a brother, Timothy Blake Sanders; two nieces, Leslie Wells and Janet Bryan; a nephew, Blake Sanders; twelve grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends made along life's journey.
