Savannah

Steve Browning, age 73, passed away peacefully on  Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Savannah Hospice. He was born on November 24, 1952 in Savannah to Breman Bernard and Vera Mae Maners Browning and had lived in Savannah most of his life.

Throughout his life, Steve was known for his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated Browning Paint, a venture that stood as a testament to his commitment and integrity. His business was not just a source of livelihood but also a reflection of his character and perseverance.

Steve’s passion reached far beyond his career. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, supporting his team through every season with unwavering loyalty, cheering alongside friends and sharing in the thrill of each victory and the lessons of every loss. His enthusiasm for the Bulldogs was matched only by his love of the outdoors. Among his favorite memories were the trips he made to Glennville. There, he found joy and camaraderie in fishing with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, relishing the peacefulness of the water and the warmth of family connection.

Steve’s life was grounded in meaningful relationships and the simple pleasures he cherished most. Those who knew him appreciated his straightforward approach to life, his ready generosity, and his ability to bring laughter and ease into any gathering.

Steve is of the Baptist faith and is preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father in law, Marcus and Velma Faircloth and a brother in law, Keith Love.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sally Love Browning of Savannah; brother in law, Victor (JonAnn) Love of Claxton; sister in law, Leslie Love of Glennville; niece and nephew, Elizabeth (Trey) James and Russell Love; great nephews, Reid and Ridge James.
