Susan Mae Jane Bennett, age 71, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at her home.  She was born in Jacksonville, Fl on April 18, 1955, to Ovied Brown and Maggie Jones Lumpkin and had lived in Glennville most of her life.

Known for her loving and caring nature, Susan had an infectious passion for sharing the word of God, which was a central part of her life. Family was the cornerstone of her world, and she often spoke with great joy and pride about her grandchildren, whose presence brought her immense happiness. Her artistic spirit shone through in many aspects of her life, reflecting a unique creativity that touched everyone around her.

Susan’s love for cooking was legendary among family and friends. She delighted in sharing recipes and teaching others how to prepare meals with love and care. The kitchen was her sanctuary, where she expressed her warmth and generosity through the joys of food.

Susan was a member of Restoration Pointe Church of God and is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Ovied DeWayne Lumpkin, and a grandson, Benjamin Roberts.

She is survived by her children, Matthew Wayne Roberts (Elizabeth), Tammy Lynn Mesquit (Robert) all of Florida and Donna Howard (Richard) of Glennville; siblings, Sandy Eibach (John), Debra Higginbotham (Fred), Pearl Elaine Gleason (Lee), Mary Nancy Higginbothan all of Florida, Leona MaLinda Lumpkin of Baxley, Virginia Lois Ann Murphy (Scott) and Lyndora Louise Collins (Darrell) all of Florida; grandchildren, Heather, Hannah, Holly, Hope, Harper, Eric, Sydney, Artie, Geo, Dacey, Olivia, and Emmaclare; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 28, 2026, with the funeral services to follow at 3:00pm from the chapel of the Glennville Funeral Home with the Reverend Roger Nelson officiating.  Interment will be in the Glennville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Dacey Howard, Eric Thomas, Scott Murphy, Blake Lumpkin, Johnathon Weathers, and Chris Freeman.
