Hortense,
Mr. Walter Franklin Griner, age 67, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1954 in Patterson, GA to John Franklin, Sr. and Marion L. Taylor Griner and had lived in Hortense for many years. He retired as a maintenance mechanic with King and Prince Seafood after 42 years of service. Mr. Walter enjoyed fishing for catfish and bream but his favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith and is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Griner, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ann Griner of Hortense; children, Steven Griner of Hortense and Troy Joseph (Brittany) Durrance of Everett City, Ashley (Jesse) Cooley of Hortense, Mia (James) Walden of Brunswick and Rene (Richard) Proctor of Waynesville; siblings, James “Buddy” Griner of Brunswick, John Ellis Griner of Brunswick, Linda Moyer of Kingsland, JoAnn (Phillip) Simpson of Brunswick; grandchildren, Deanna Proctor, Dustin Proctor, Jaxten Cooley, Olivia Cooley, Makenzie Cooley, Bliss Walden, Isabella Romero, and Elizabeth Romero.
The family will receive friends at the Little Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 10:15am with the graveside funeral service to follow at 11:00am with the Reverends Keith Brown and Richie Selph officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Durrance, James Walden, Payton Dean, Richard Proctor, Jesse Cooley and Mia Walden.
Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Griner family.
