William Michael Peters

William Michael Peters, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and under the compassionate care of Community Hospice. He was born on April 6, 1953, to James Carl and Mae Brewer Peters.

A native of Vero Beach, Florida, William called the area home for more than 50 years. Throughout much of his professional career, he put his mechanical talents and strong work ethic to use as the owner and operator of his own mechanic shop. Whether diagnosing a problem or turning a wrench, working with his hands came naturally to him and provided a livelihood for his family for many years.

In 2004, William traded the familiar surroundings of Florida for the quiet countryside of Collins, Georgia, where he settled on his farm. Even after making the move, his knowledge and love of all things mechanical remained an important part of his life. He worked for several years at NAPA in Glennville, where his years of experience and mechanical knowledge served him well.

William especially loved the retirement years he spent on his farm. Country life suited him well, and he thoroughly enjoyed the peace and simplicity that came with living in a rural setting. After a lifetime of hard work, some of his greatest enjoyment came from simply being at home on the farm and appreciating the tranquility of the countryside.

Above all, William treasured the people who shared his journey. Family and friendship remained important throughout his life, and the relationships he built over the years endured through changing seasons and circumstances. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Carl and Mae Brewer Peters; a sister, Glenda Allen; and his wife, Julia Peters.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is his son, John (Amanda) Peters; four beloved grandchildren, Dalton Peters, Mikala Peters, Courtney (Dylan) Bradley, and Addison Redd; two brothers, Don Peters and Jimmy Peters; a sister, Debbie Peters; his former wife and longtime friend, Carolyn Podach; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and countless friends made along life’s journey.

Memorial service arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced when finalized.
