William (Billy) John Sayre, age 61, died on May 2, 2026, in Sunbury, GA, surrounded by his beloved family after a 4-year battle with cancer. Billy was born on March 20, 1965, in Plainfied, NJ, to William and Midge Sayre.
He graduated from Hunterdon County High School in Flemington, NJ. He served in the U.S. Navy, and later became employed in the Limousine industry, eventually serving as Vice President of Sales for Mint Limousine, and catered to many celebrities. Later, he retired and became a boat broker for Portofino Hotel and Marina in Redondo Beach, California.
His great loves were boating, scuba diving, driving race cars, motorcycles, and his many idyllic summers fishing and spending the days on the ocean and beach at the family summer home in Ocean Beach, NJ. Above all, he loved his family and many loyal friends, especially those who took care of him when he fell ill.
Billy was very outgoing, caring, and had an infectious smile. He was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He embraced the love of his savior, Jesus Christ, as he grew older and found comfort in reading the scriptures. He is predeceased by his father, William F. Sayre Jr.; grandparents, Wiliiam (Annabelle) Sayre and John (Anastasia) Lambertsen; cousin, Stephanie Sayre; aunt, Judi Lambertsen; and uncle, Ray Roble.
He is survived by his son, William A. Sayre; mother and stepfather, Midge and Michal Buppert; brother, Bryan (Cortney) Sayre; niece, Rylee Sayre; aunts and uncles, Pattie (Steven) Hernandez, Jack (Lynnie) Lambertsen, and George Sayre; cousins, Robert McDonald, Damian McDonald, Kali McDonald, and Drake McDonald.
A celebration of his life will be held in California and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Veterans organization of your choice.
Low Country Cremation and Burial has the honor to serve the Sayre family.
