Willie Thomas, age 57, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, under the compassionate care of Community Hospice Inpatient Center in Vidalia. He was born on October 27, 1968, in Telfair County to the late Grover and Luviena Thomas. Willie spent his formative years in the Telfair County School System and was a proud graduate of Telfair County High School, Class of 1987.
Following graduation, he began his working career with American Yard Products, where he dedicated twelve years helping produce power tools used by families across the country. In November of 2001, he married the love of his life, Udell, and together they moved to Reidsville, where they would build their future together. While living in Tattnall County, Willie explored several career paths before returning to the type of work he knew best, finishing his working years with Briggs and Stratton. He was highly respected by his coworkers and was known as a man who led by example, demonstrating a strong and steady work ethic.
Willie had a love for music, especially old school hip hop and R&B, and he enjoyed spending time watching classic movies. He also loved to travel, often attending small community festivals throughout the area. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of St James Full Gospel Church in McRae, where he faithfully served as a Deacon since 2011. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Grover Thomas Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Udell Thomas of Reidsville; his daughter, Mikayla Thomas of Reidsville; four brothers, Charles Thomas and his wife Kala of McRae, Bobby Thomas of Brooklyn, New York, Benzell Thomas of Sanford, Florida, and Edward Harvey of Sanford, Florida; four sisters, Edna Fay McCrimmon and her husband James of McRae, Terry Jenn Thomas of Lyons, Vernell Neal of Lake Helen, Florida, and Ilar B Thomas of Sanford, Florida; a loving aunt, Irene Perry of McRae; nieces and nephews, Keisha Thomas, Latadra Thomas, Laszla Mobley, Tina Evans, Rashard Batten, Charles Evans, Kevonte Thomas, Yaroba "Peebles" Alford, and Zachariah McCrimmon; other relatives and many friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial.
Funeral services will follow on Saturday, April 4, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Floyd Mercer Jr. officiating.
Services will conclude at the chapel.
