Ann Shirley (Lynch) Scott

July 16, 1945 — June 26, 2020

Savannah

Savannah

Ann S. Scott, she was born in Savannah on July 16, 1945 to Frank Gillison, Sr. and Maggie Mae Lynch.  She was educated in the public school system of Chatham County to include Cuyler Street School and Beach High School. She was married for a brief period of time in her late teenage years.

She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend.  She whole heartedly loved her children, family and friends. She dedicated her life to caring for others.  And her personality was one that drew you to her and made her unforgettable.  She was a true lover of people regardless of race, age or gender.

The joy and pleasure of her life was her grandson, children, sisters, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.  She loved spending time with family, reading her Bible and Daily Word, playing old school solitaire-real cards, watching the game show channel and Lifetime, cleaning up, even when nothing needed to be cleaned, as she TRULY believed "cleanliness was next to Godliness"!

Ann was a woman of tall stature, small physique, but very strong in her will and commitment.  She was a true fighter. She was a woman of valor, courage and strength.  She brought joy and laughter to everyone whose presence she graced and she was also a true comedian. She exuberated grace and elegance as well as strength and compassion.  She was always a listening ear and knew what to say, when to say it and how to say it.

As a child, she joined and was baptized at first Metropolitan Baptist Church.  She most recently attended St. Peters AME Church when her health permitted.  She loved the Lord with all heart and accepted him as her personal Savior.

On Friday, June 26, 2020 at 12:35 am, surrounded by her family Ann answered God's call from labor to rest after many years of illness.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her life partner Emory Rogers, sisters, Josie Johnson Williams, Linda Roberson and Victoria Lynch, and brother, Nathaniel Brown.

She will be sadly missed beyond words, but leaves to cherish her legacy and wonderful memories to her children, Tonya (Mark) Scott-Greene, Kelvin Lynch and Lawrence Scott, grandson and the love of her life, Mark Greene II, seven sisters, Juanita (Horace) Benemon, Theresa (Carl) Chisolm, Mildred Milton, Alberta Ellis, Jonnetta (Eugene Davis), Eloise Ellis and Pamela Jackson, four brothers, Ernest (Octavia) Lynch, Frank Gillison, Jr., Anthony Gillison, Sr., and David Ellis, two Godchildren, Willie Jones and Robin Johnson.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Magnolia Memorial Gardens, 5532 Silk Hope Rd., Savannah, Ga. 31405
