Donald Augusta Currie

Mr. Donald A. Currie, age 83, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Affinis Hospice. Donald Augusta Currie was born November 21, 1935 in Miami, FL. to Augusta and Grace Rexford Currie. In 1966 he moved to Glennville and later made his home in Reidsville. He was a US Air Force Veteran and retired after 35 years from the Georgia Department of Correction and after 16 years of service from the Tattnall County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Donald loved to go fishing and hunting but his main hobby was making sure his yard was spotless. He was of the Baptist faith and preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Currie; siblings, Bill Currie, Marvin Currie, and Margaret Stanfield.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Proctor Currie of Reidsville; children, Sharon (Mike) Thompson and Donna Currie all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Heather Howard, Brett (Meagan) Thompson, Suzanne Thompson, and Robert Currie; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday beginning at 6:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Monday June 17, 2019 at the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with the Reverend Bruce Conner officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with military honors performed by the US Air Force.

Pallbearers will be Jason Howell, Evan Smith, Jake Kraus,Jerome Sharpe, Tyler Maddox, and Kevin Keyhauver.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Currie family.
