Obituary

Donald Wayne Wrenn, a true Southern gentleman will long be remembered for the values of kindness, warmth, and grace, peacefully departed this world on May 10th, 2023, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. He courageously fought a prolonged battle with cancer, displaying unwavering strength and resilience throughout. He was born on February 9, 1959, to Rabun and Hazel Wrenn. Growing up in Tattnall County, Donald was deeply rooted in the Lynntown community of Collins, a place he affectionately referred to as "God's Country." Every corner of this picturesque haven held a special place in his heart, and he spent his entire life embracing its rich beauty.  Donald was a man of simple pleasures and could find delight in the everyday blessings around him. He found solace in leisurely drives along dirt roads and sought refuge and rejuvenation on the banks of the Ohoopee River.  No matter where he went, music was his constant companion, and he moved to the rhythms of 70s Southern Rock. With an encyclopedic knowledge of the artists, songwriters, and release years, Donald's family would often fact-check, only to find that he was always right.

Professionally, Donald dedicated 22 years of his life to Plant Hatch.  He would go on to retire in 2021, leaving behind a profound legacy among his peers of hard work, dedication, generosity, and professionalism. However, his most cherished accomplishments were the bonds he shared with his loved ones.  His memory will forever be cherished, his love ever enduring, and his legacy imprinted upon the hearts and minds of all those who knew him.  Donald was preceded in death by his beloved Daddy, his dear sister Carol Wrenn Boyles, and a much loved great niece, Chloe Ann.

He is survived by his loving Mama, Hazel Wrenn; his daughter Kara Wrenn Sikes; precious grandchildren, Bentlee Grace Sikes and Jaxson Cade Sikes; three sisters Beverly Horton, Jean Wrenn, and Rhonda (Greg) Boyett; six nieces Allison Shermer, Dana Vincent, Kristie Horton, Kelli Sapp, Nikki Horton, and Anna Branch; five nephews Kevin Boyles, Ray Boyles, Jonathan Branch, Trevor Boyett, and Cody Boyett; an aunt, Joyce Collins; lifelong best friend, Joe Waters; numerous great nieces, nephews, other relatives and a multitude of friends made along life’s journey also survive.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm on Friday, May 12, 2023, with the funeral service to follow at 3:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Elder Jerry Lightsey and Rev. Jeffrey Barnard officiating.  Interment will follow in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Waters, Jack Cowart, Tony "Spot" Fowler, Landry Tillman, Hugh Blissett and Lafaughn Lightsey.

In honor of Donald's brave battle with cancer and to offer hope and assistance to others in the community who may be facing the same, the family kindly requests donations be made to Tattnall Co C.A.R.E.S., P.O. Box 2356, Reidsville, GA 30453.

Donald did not like the idea of wearing suits. In keeping with his motto, the family invites you to celebrate his life, dressed as he would be, casual.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Wrenn family.
