Obituary

Collins,

Eric Williamson, age 46, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023.  He was born in Savannah on November 16, 1976, to James Allen and Bonnie Jo Pye Williamson.  Eric lived in Montgomery County many years before moving to Collins in 2015.  He was a 1995 Montgomery County High School graduate.  Following graduation, he went to work as a Conductor/Engineer with Georgia Central Railroad for 19 years.  Literally, “riding the rails” he sought a career change and recently had the opportunity to go to work with Georgia Southern Company.  Demanding jobs called for a much-needed escape.  To that end, Eric sought refuge in anything to do with the great outdoors.  In addition to hunting and fishing, he would often be found riding his buggy on the miles of dirt roads and trails in and around Tattnall County.  He also raised chickens, and this may have been one of his biggest hobbies. His interest in them was more than just collecting eggs.  Chickens are naturally aggressive, and he may have, from time to time, turned a blind eye to letting them “fight”.  He was known as the rooster whisperer. The wonder of nature solidified his knowledge that God was always present, and he would worship the Lord at Collins Full Gospel.  Eric was known by all to be a hard-working, devoted family man, who could always be relied on; he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  He is preceded in death by his daddy and his uncle, Robbie Pye.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle Williamson of Collins; his mother, Bonnie Jo Williamson of Collins; sons, Cole Williamson of Collins and Conner Colbert of Vidalia; sister and brother-in-law, Carly, and Ronald Sharpe of Soperton; Godson, Jackson Willis of Cedar Crossing; niece, Sarah Sharpe and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins that he dearly loved.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, 2023, beginning at 5:00pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Reverend Andrew Nelms officiating.

Interment will follow in the Little Flock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cole Williamson, Conner Colbert, Daniel Williamson, Chad Coleman, Allen Williamson, and Monty Williamson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Georgia Game Bird Association.
