Gail C. Bills 10/20/1932 – 09/15/2020

Gail passed away peacefully in her sleep after a valiant battle with dementia.

Gail was born to Irene Whittington & Clarence Curtis on October 20, 1932 and was raised in the Marlborough area of Kansas City, Missouri by her mother and stepfather Frank Churchill. She attended Center High School where she met the love of her life James Bills, they were married her Senior year. She and Jim were married 34 years and raised six children. They genuinely enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending weekends at Lake of the Ozarks on their boat.

She was one of the original ladies of the “Mad Man” era of advertising, working for Galvin, Farris, Ross and Bernstein Rein. She was a copy writer and editor, also a lay out and graphic design artist.

She rediscovered her love of sewing in the 80’s and turned to quilting as a creative outlet. She created many quilts for family and friends, specializing in baby quilts. She became involved in the Quilts for Kids project, making small quilts for kids in hospitals across the country.  She also had a love for antique collecting that she has passed to several of her children.

For the last three years, she has lived in southeast Georgia.

She is predeceased by her husband, Jim and her oldest son David. She is survived by five of her children, Linda (Blair) Pederson, Jim (Leslie) Bills, Barbara (George) Pabst, Russell (Tina) Bills, Betsy (Bryan) Pease and daughter in law, Loretta Bills.
