John Michael Tidwell

John Michael Tidwell age 71, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021, at his residence.  He was born in Savannah on January 4, 1950, to Marion Leroy and Alberta Cone Tidwell II.  He had lived in Chatham County for many years moving to Tattnall County 40 years ago.  He served in the US Coast Guard and was a police officer for over 20 years serving with Savannah PD and Thunderbolt, PD.  He also served 20 years with the Department of Corrections.  Mr. Tidwell enjoyed fishing, watching Westerns, and shooting off fireworks.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marion Leroy “Bubba” Tidwell III; his wife, Ester Grace Tidwell; daughter, Angela Heather Tidwell; stepchildren, Dewey Ulmer, James Ulmer, and Peggy Lynn Ulmer.

He is survived by his children, Marion Leroy Tidwell IV, and William Mathew Tidwell; stepchildren, Johnny Ulmer, Richard Ulmer, Wayne Ulmer, Joey Ulmer, and Betty Willis; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from the hours of 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial. Interment will follow in the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Lewis Ulmer, Ken Bohannon, Christopher Ulmer. Matt Ulmer. Joey Ulmer and Danny Elmore.
