Laurie Jo (Nunley) Dismuke

August 7, 1961 — March 28, 2020

Lyons

Lyons,

Laurie Jo Nunley Dismuke, age 58, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.  She was born in Lebannon, Indiana on August 7, 1961 to William Joseph and Mary Alice Nightingale Nunley and had lived in Georgia most of her life, moving to Lyons 7 years ago.  When her mother became ill (ultimately passing away from cancer) Laurie Jo discovered her passion in life; caring for others during their time of greatest need.  This period of time in her life was a turning point and led her to go back to school to obtain a degree in nursing.  Upon completion of her degree, she lovingly served thousands of patients through the years as a nurse.  Her tenures included positions at Camelia Health, Twin View Nursing Home, and Bethany Home among others.  Not only was she a care giving professional, she prided herself as being the “care giver in chief” to her loving family.  Hobbies included collecting shot glasses from her various travel adventures over the years and a large collection of wind chimes.   Just as her wind chime collection added soothing notes to the air during a gentle breeze; her love added soothing notes to all those she touched through the years.  Laurie Jo will be sorely missed.  She was of the Presbyterian faith and is preceded in death by her parents.

Left to celebrate a life well lived is her husband of 38 years, Danny W. Dismuke of Lyons; children, Thomas Danny (Tanya) Dismuke and Denise Dismuke (Allen) Morgan all of Lyons; brothers, Richard (Sandra) Nunley of Elberton, Steve (Reita) Nunley of Dacula and James (Kim) Nunley of Dothan, AL; very special little sister, Sheila Jordan of Dacula; grandchildren, Alexandria N. Dismuke, SPC4 Jacob T. Dismuke, Katelyn Breanna Mosley, Chase Wickstrom, MaKayla Hickman and Ashlyn Odom; great granddaughter, Lilah Mosley and her faithful companion, Friskie.

There will be an opportunity to offer a final farewell and viewing on Monday, March 30, 2020 from the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm.

Funeral services will be private.
