LeRoy Alvin Gilbert

Gumbranch,

Mr. LeRoy A. Gilbert, age 82, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah surrounded by his loving family.  He was born July 7, 1938 in Avon Township, Michigan to Charles Alvin and Bernice Gilbert and had lived in Gumbrach since 1958.  He was a US Army Veteran and retired as a mechanic from Civil Service.  He owned and operated Liberty Texaco in Hinesville and also owned Gilbert Cab Company.  He loved to tend to his garden, watch country musical shows and spending time with his family  He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Melba Latrelle Gilbert and a son, David Gilbert.

Mr. LeRoy is survived by his children, Richard Lee Gilbert, Lynn (Roger) Lien and Stephen Gilbert all of Gumbranch; sisters, Beverly and Janet both of Michigan; sister in law, Gert Cunningham of Waterford, MI; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Lloyd Bradley's Kitchen in Gumbranch with the Reverend Mike Howard officiating.
