Lena Katherine (Masilio) Bourgeois

Lena Masilio Bourgeois passed away peacefully at her home in Collins, Georgia on May 12, 2021, at the age of 101.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Bourgeois, Sr., and her parents, Andrew and Carmela Masilio.

Mrs. Bourgeois was an elementary school teacher in both public and private schools in Lake Charles and Vinton, Louisiana throughout her career.  She was a devoted wife and mother, a devout Catholic, an avid gardener, and an inspired cook.

Mrs. Bourgeois is survived by her two sons, Richard M. Bourgeois, Jr. (Linda) and William C. Bourgeois (Darlene), and a daughter, Kathryn B. O’Reilly (Arthur); sister, Virginia Carreca; She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 21st at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vidalia, Georgia.  A rosary will be said prior to the Mass.  An open house will be held at the home of Richard and Linda Bourgeois, 419 Hickory Hollow Lane, Collins, Georgia, until 9pm that evening.
