Lynn Deal

Mr. Lynn Deal, age 79, aka “The Real Deal from Reidsville” passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his home.  He was born on April 5, 1942 in Baxley to Darwin and Doretha Lynn Deal and had lived in Reidsville for the entirety of his adult life.  Following his graduation from high school, he would go on to further his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton.  Moving to Reidsville, he would join the Georgia National Guard and go to work in the insurance industry.  Lynn started the Reidsville branch of Georgia Farm Bureau where he would serve the community for over 37 years until his retirement as the agency manager.  An active member of the community, Lynn would become many things to many different people.  Most would come to know him by the nickname “The REAL DEAL from Reidsville”; however other monikers also stuck with him, “Smiley”, “Curley”, and the “Candyman”!  No matter where you saw him, he always had a smile and was ready and willing to share one with you as he handed out smiley stickers and even had a smile on his business cards!  One of his greatest joys was participating in parades and car shows with his award winning, fully restored 79 Dodge truck, “Little Red Express”.  No matter the event in and around Tattnall County, Lynn would be seen delighting the crowds.  Even during the busiest parade and event times, Lynn could be counted on to be at the Enmarket everyday to feed the birds and later in the day at the yellow house by the post office feeding the stray cats.  He was also a member of the Rising Sun Lodge #32 in Reidsville and a member of Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Patterson.  A man that delighted in seeing everyone around him happy and with a smile; the world was brighter because of his light; he will be deeply missed.   He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. HC Lynn Sr; Mr. and Mrs. CC Lummie Deal and his loving wife of 40 years, “Miss” Betty Deal.

He is survived by his best friend and daughter, Renee Deal of Reidsville; siblings, Elwyn (Nancy) Deal of Anderson, SC, Annette (Jimmy) Carter of Hinesville, Elaine (Roy) Bass and Eldon (Pam) Deal all of Baxley; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 24, 2021 from the hours of 5:30 to 7:30pm at the funeral home.  Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 10:30am from the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be members of the Rising Sun Lodge #32.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Rush, Ricky Trull, John Haggard, Jarvis Small, Kirk Lott, Joey Graffgnino, and Clarence Clark.

Memorials may be given to Shriners Children’s Hospital in care of the Tattnall County Shrine Club Post Office Box 442, Glennville, GA 30427
