Oren Franklin Driggers

Oren F. Driggers, age 83 passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Senior Care Center in Brunswick.  He was born in Glennville on December 15, 1936 to Tootle and Belle Sands Driggers. Mr. Oren was of the Baptist Faith and he was a 1955 graduate of Glennville High School.  One of his proud moments during high school he was one of the winners of the 1954 FFA Corn Production Awards in the South East District Glennville of growing 107 bushels of corn in one acre.  After graduating high school, he went on to serve his country in the US Air Force from 1956-1959. During his enlistment, his duty assignment and major command was under the 42d Bombardment Wing in the (Strategic Airforce Command) at Loring Airforce base Maine where he completed several courses for B52 electrical repairman and was assigned to work on the B52 bomber airplanes. When he was released of active duty, he then was assigned to serve Air Force Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1963. After expiration of term of active duty service in the military, He met and married his beloved wife Jeannie, he then moved to Glynn County, he worked at various appliance stores, he then owned and operated Glynn Appliance Services for a total of 53 years in the appliance repair business mostly in the St. Simons Island and Glynn County area.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 43 years, “Jeannie” Vertis E. Driggers; his sisters, Carolyn D. Boyd, Margaret Strickland, and Jean D. Blass; brothers-in-law, Gene Dasher, Charlie Strickland, Roland Blass.

He is survived by his sons, Greg (Angie) Driggers of Saint Simons Island and Andy (Donna) Driggers of Brunswick; sister, Judy Dasher of Glennville; grandchildren, Megan Driggers, Amanda (John Paul) Richardson, Jennifer Driggers, Alex Driggers, Jacob Key, Melissa (Adam) LeClair and John (Hannah) Grubbs; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, George Boyd of Tampa, FL., several nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Mike Howard officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
