Rebecca (Becky) Leatherman was a kind and gentle soul, always bright and uplifting.  She was very outgoing and fun loving, making friends easily.  She was blessed with the ability and desire to only see the good in people.  The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Becky.  She lived a rich, full life; finding happiness in everything she did and sharing that happiness with others.  She passed peacefully, surrounded by her younger sister, family and loved ones.

Early in life, Becky was an avid swimmer and bowler.  She was an award-winning participant in The Special Olympics in both categories.  One of her greatest fulfillments in life was volunteering in the Special Needs community, contributing to many projects and committees over the years. She loved helping in the kitchen and participated in many cooking classes.

Becky also had a passion for arts and crafts; including painting, crocheting, plastic canvas, and especially creating decorative name cards for babies in the local Neonatal Intensive Care Nurseries. Becky took great pride in practicing and communicating in Sign Language, even performing songs in Sign Language.  Becky also loved to travel. She went on many road trips around the Southeast, participated in Annual Summer Camps around the state and enjoyed a Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas with a large group of friends.  She loved Christmas lights, stuffed animals, Disney movies and playing her electric keyboard.

Becky is survived by her mother, Mary Soals of Macon, GA;  Sisters Sharon (Danny) Hughes of Lakeland, FLA, Rosemary O’Rock of Columbus, OH, Cindy Siebeneck of Dry Branch, GA;  Brother Jeff (Wanda) Leatherman of Cairo, GA;  Nieces Katie, Tracy, Angela and Jennifer.  Becky was preceded in death by her Father, Ralph, and Brothers Arnold, Ralph Jr, and Kenny.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 22, at 2PM at Swift Creek United Methodist Church, in Macon, GA.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Leatherman family.
