Richard Walter “Pumpkin” Powell, age 55, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at his residence.  He was born in Bartow, Florida on March 1, 1967 and had lived in Hall, Evans, and Toombs County most of his life.  He was a graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville, GA and was an US Army Veteran serving in Holland.  While serving in the Army he was a Nuclear Weapon Guard.  After the military Pumpkin worked for many years with the Claxton Poultry.   He enjoyed fishing, bowling and watching Nascar races.  He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Daisy and is preceded in death by her his father, Roger Allen Powell; brother, Lee Allen Powell and maternal grandparents, Horace and Ruby Miller.

He is survived by his daughter, Ruby Vanessa Powell of Morgantown, NC; mother and stepfather, Patsy and Terry Rustin of Lyons; siblings, Gregory Carlos (Jaquelyn) Powell and Rebecca Lynn Cardenas all of Claxton; grandchildren, Reagan Leanne Powell and Ripley Layne Powell several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 26, 2022, with the funeral services to follow at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Reverend Jim Miller officiating.  Interment will follow in the Brewton Cemetery.
