Robert Anthony Owens – 1958-2021

Robert Anthony Owens, 63, of Claxton, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 21, 2021. Bobby, as he was affectionately called by all, was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Owens of Tybee Island and his sister, Julie Owens. Bobby grew up in Savannah and was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. He graduated from Benedictine Military School in 1976. He was also a graduate of Augusta University. He will be missed by his many friends from Savannah and Claxton.

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Leslie Owens Monson,(Christian), of New Orleans, LA and son, Silas Anthony Strickland, of Claxton, GA. He is also survived by his brother, Manson Owens,(Lucia), of Richmond Hill, GA, and 4 sisters, Ruth Parsons,(Michael), Statham, GA; Lucy Groover, Tybee Island, GA; Mary Jane Paul,(Mike), Augusta, GA; Nancy Carbo,(Mike) Savannah, GA, and 2 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Wilmington Island on Friday at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances are requested to be sent to Benedictine Military School in his name.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Owens family.
