Mr. Simmie Driggers, Sr. age 76, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.  He was born in Glennville on February 21, 1944 to CJ and Lucille Weitman Driggers.  He had lived in Tattnall County most his life until recently moving to live on the banks of the mighty Altamaha river.  The river offered him comfort as it is a visual example of the awesome power of God and his power to transform all things.  Living out this example of transformation throughout his life; Simmie and his wife fostered 146 individuals during their life together.  Each one in their care received love, kindness, and compassion as they were treated no differently than a biological child would have been.  Countless lives have been positively impacted by the love and example set by Simmie, and now they are passing this love on to their children and grandchildren!  It is hard to believe, but he also held a full-time career; working at Rayonier, where he retired after 42 ½ years as a supervisor. No matter what the day ahead would challenge him with, he was always ready to face it after going to his Lord in prayer and eating his favorite meal of the day, breakfast.  His spirit was fed as he was a faithful member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church.  In his free time, his hobbies included fishing, riding down the river in his boat, and raccoon hunting.  A man that gave selflessly to so many throughout his life, now the reward of Heaven is his and all that knew him celebrate his gain.

He is preceded in death by his parents; children, Kim Daniels, Victoria Driggers, David Stanfield and Gerald Stanfield; grandchildren, Jessie Daniels and Bryant Daniels; siblings, Randall Driggers and Peggy Lescallett; sons in law, Danny Daniels and Steve Daughtery.

He is survived by his soul mate of 54 yrs, Mrs. Mary Grace Driggers of Baxley; children, Simmie (Susan) Driggers, Jr., Blair (Amanda) Driggers, Joshua Driggers, Bob (Lucy) Driggers, Manuel (Regan) Driggers, and Kenny White all of Glennville, Jason (Naomi) Driggers of Cosby, TN, Sean Driggers of Reidsville, Corey (Makala) Driggers of Jesup, Thomas Driggers of College Station, TX, Mark Lampp of Macon, Sheldon (Jessica) Driggers of Hinesville, Brian Champion of Savannah, Tanya (Doyle) Norman of Statesboro, Connie (Gene) Thompson of Statesboro, Stephanie Daughtery-Spotsylvania, VA, Amanda Forbes of Vidalia, Danielle (Jonathan) Mott of Fort Lee, VA, April Case, Susie Thomas, Debra Ann (Thomas Bland) Quick ,Marcia (Cody) Bradley, Nikkie (Chris) Wiggins all of Glennville, Asa (Billy) Reddish of Reidsville; siblings, Patricia (Juan) Durrence  and Carol (Johnnie) Howard all of Glennville, Brice (Nancy) Driggers of Columbia, SC and Gary (Brenda) Driggers of Augusta; brother in law, Ken (Diane) Lescallett; best buddies, Raymond Pettigrew of Glennville and Wadis Edwards of Baxley; special aunts, Jeslyn Weitman and Janie Ruth Reddish both of Glennville; many many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
